05-02-13

The Prepar3D team heard the feedback on our forums that modernized and updated tools were needed to build more dynamic content: the Prepar3D development team is excited to announce the release of an update to the Prepar3D v1.4 SDK – which includes new 64-bit modeling tools

The result of that hard work is a free update to the Prepar3D SDK that allows developers to create much richer and more dynamic content for Prepar3D.

You can download and read the release notes for the updated SDK http://www.prepar3d.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/P3DToolsReleaseNotes_v14.pdf, as well as download the patch http://www.prepar3d.com/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=23  (note: you’ll need to be logged in, and have already installed the v1.4 SDK, this is simply a patch you’ll install over your previous 1.4 SDK installation).

cadeau.gifA script to export a Gmax model to 3DS Max - by Lagaffe 20/03/2013 : 21:12

Hi,

There is a new tool for exporting from Gmax to 3ds Max. FFG is a script which exports a scene from Gmax in a form readable by 3ds Max. Mesh, Gmax materials, UV mappings, smoothing, pivots, object names and hierarchy are exported, as are Gmax primitives (cube, cylinder etc). The output from the process has been tested in 3ds Max 2008 and 2011, and a Max 2012 user has reported a successful export.

The FFG process is a collaboration between Tom Faulds and Manfred Jahn based on the BFF script by Borislav 'Bobo' Petrov.

The main limitation is that the process has to fonction in a 2GB memory space, so a big project > 350K poly model will not export in a single pass.

Whith this béta a 37K poly model did export successfully but the process took around 25 minutes in total, while 10-15K poly selections went quite quickly.

Users should be aware that FSX materials do NOT export successfully and animations are unreliable at best. The script has animation export turned off by default, the user can experiment at his own risk.

The download includes :-

FFG 0_1_4.ms ............................... the MacroScript for Gmax
GMaxSLGRAB.exe ........................... the 'Grabber'
FFG_pp.bat and FFG_pp.exe ............ the post-processor batch file and executable
ICONX.exe .................................... Icon language runtime

readmeFFG.pdf .............................. user instructions

and is available here at FSDeveloper in the Downloads section! http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=135

gysample.gifIncrease site securty - by Lagaffe 20/02/2013 : 16:08

Due to a constant number of SPAM since the beginning of February, the site has undergone several closures ... fortunately short periods. Nevertheless, the mail function (php) proposed by my supplier is limited to 2,000 items per month, so these spam saturate quickly repeated this limitation (it is the same with other suppliers) and e are quickly blocked.

Fortunately for me, I am a Linux Administrator and it was easy to locate these spammers. So, their IP addresses are already listed (including the Miami area in Florida and Brazil):

  • 74.217.148.*
  • 96.47.224.*
  • 96.47.225.*
  • 173.44.37.*
  • 173.194.99.*

Of course, these IP addresses are blacklisted and any attempt of connection to French-VFR will be rejected immediately. Given these repeated attacks and unbearable, I was obliged to significantly increase the security of French-VFR hardening level administration and adding the captcha on sending  message from the site or in response to French-VFR articles.

These changes will slow down the management of French-VFR but this is the only way to continue to publish our works.

Thank you to everyone for your understanding and support cool.

Best regards, the webmaster
